From 12 to 14 June 2020, Artrotters is taking you to see Bizet's famous opera Carmen at one of the temples of Spanish opera, Barcelona's Liceu on La Rambla.
First performed at the nearby Peralada Festival, Carmen is directed by Calixto Bieito, who achieves a miraculous balance between renewal and respect for the text. The evening at Barcelona's prestigious Liceu boasts a major asset in the presence of Georgian mezzo Anita Rachvelishvili, whose fiery temperament is perfectly suited to the interpretation of the beautiful cigar-bearer.
